Boone County 4-H Member Receives Iowa State Fair 4-H Scholarship
AMES, Iowa – A $1,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Boone County 4-H member. Marcus Heineman, Ogden, has received an Iowa State Fair 4-H Scholarship sponsored by the Iowa Foundation for Agriculture Advancement.
Heineman, a nine-year member, is the son of Paul and Mari Lynn Heineman. He has been involved in the beef, aerospace and welding project areas and has received state recognition for woodworking, citizenship and swine projects. He also has served as a county 4-H council member and attended the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.
“4-H has definitely been a huge part of my life. I’ve learned a lot from my project areas, and I’ve grown personally from the opportunities,” Heineman said. “My club, county and state 4-H experiences have helped me make friends and many fun memories, and my involvement in project areas has helped me decide on a career in agriculture.”
A recent graduate of Ogden Community High School, Heineman plans to attend Iowa State University and major in agricultural business.
In Iowa, the 4-H program is a part of Iowa State University Extension and headquartered on the ISU campus in Ames. For more information about 4-H, how to get involved or how to apply for a 4-H scholarship, contact the local county office of ISU Extension.
