Union County 4-H Member Receives Iowa State Fair 4-H Scholarship
AMES, Iowa – A $1,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Union County 4-H member. Elizabeth Beatty, Creston, has received an Iowa State Fair 4-H Scholarship sponsored by the Iowa Foundation for Agriculture Advancement.
Beatty, an eight-year member, is the daughter of Bob and Colleen Beatty. She has been involved in the beef and leadership project areas, participated in various community service projects and received state dog and horse honors. Beatty also has served as club president and on her county 4-H council.
“I have acquired the skills to communicate with others through my 4-H experiences,” she said. “4-H is something I will always enjoy. There is nothing more satisfying than knowing that you helped someone else improve, even if only a little.”
A recent graduate of Creston High School, Beatty plans to attend Iowa State University to major in animal science.
In Iowa, the 4-H program is a part of Iowa State University Extension and headquartered on the ISU campus in Ames. For more information about 4-H, how to get involved or how to apply for a 4-H scholarship, contact the local county office of ISU Extension.
