Boone County 4-H’er Receives Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship


AMES, Iowa – A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Boone County 4-H member.  Kevin Hansen, Ames, received a Pioneer Community College 4-H scholarship sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc. 

Hansen, an eight-year member, is the son of Barb Osborn and Ray Hansen.  He has been involved in the sheep, beef, home improvement and natural resources project areas.  He has been awarded the outstanding freshman award, spirit award and has held the position of vice president. 

“4-H has taught me the importance of being a leader in my community,” said Hansen. “Showing livestock has taught me patience as well as quality meat evaluation.”

A recent graduate of Boone High School, Hansen plans to attend Kirkwood Community College in horticulture.
