Jefferson County 4-H’er Receives Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship
AMES, Iowa – A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Jefferson County 4-H member. Eric Godwin, Libertyville, received a Pioneer Community College 4-H scholarship sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc.
Godwin, a nine-year member, is the son of Ben and Lynn Godwin. He has been involved in the beef, science and technology, dog and citizenship project areas. He has also been awarded accolades in leadership, agricultural, achievement and citizenship and has served as president of his club and on his county 4-H council.
“4-H has given me the opportunity to become more aware of crop management and the need for more efficient agricultural application which has influenced my decision to seek a degree in agriculture,” said Godwin.
A recent graduate of Fairfield Community High School, Godwin plans to attend Kirkwood Community College in agricultural GPA/GIS technology.
In Iowa, the 4-H program is a part of Iowa State University Extension and headquartered on the ISU campus in Ames. For more information about 4-H, how to get involved or how to apply for a 4-H scholarship, contact the local county office of ISU Extension.
