Mitchell County 4-H’er Receives Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship


AMES, Iowa – A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Mitchell County 4-H member. Brian Eastman, Riceville, has received a Pioneer Community College 4-H scholarship sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc. 

Eastman, a nine-year member, is the son of Steve and Deanna Eastman. He has been involved in the beef, home improvement, welding and leadership project areas and has received the “I Dare You” award and senior overall crop production project recognition at the state level. A county and area 4-H council member, Eastman also has served as club president and attended the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.

“4-H has been a large part of my life. It has taught me many things like leadership, citizenship and communication,” he said. “I will use the skills I have learned in 4-H to better myself and my country.”

A recent graduate of Riceville Community High School, Eastman plans to attend Iowa Lakes Community College to major in agricultural business.
