Keokuk County 4-H’er Receives Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa – A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Keokuk County 4-H member.  Blair Burtlow, Ollie, has received a Pioneer Community College 4-H scholarship sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc.

Burtlow, a nine-year member, is the daughter of Dawn Burtlow. She has been involved in the home improvement, beef, poultry, sheep and horticulture project areas and has been awarded outstanding merit for communication projects at the state level. She also has been a member of her county council and held the positions of president and vice president in her club.

“4-H has taught me responsibilities and communication and has made me realize how important is it to maintain my grades to get into vet school,” said Burtlow.

A recent graduate of Pekin Community High School, Burtlow plans to attend Des Moines Area Community College for pre-veterinary medicine.

In Iowa, the 4-H program is a part of Iowa State University Extension and headquartered on the ISU campus in Ames.  For more information about 4-H, how to get involved or how to apply for a 4-H scholarship, contact the local county office of ISU Extension.
