Washington County 4-H’er Receives Orscheln 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa – A $1,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Washington County 4-H member. Sara Sieren, Keota, has received an Orscheln 4-H scholarship sponsored by Orscheln Farm and Home Supply Co. Inc.

Sieren, a nine-year member, is the daughter of Tim and Ethel Sieren. She has been involved in the market beef, swine and photography project areas and has been awarded a state volunteer award and an outstanding record book at the county level. A county and area 4-H council member, Sieren also has served as club president and vice president and attended Citizenship-Washington Focus and the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.

“4-H is about learning responsibility and working hard to achieve your goals,” said Sieren.  “You may not always win, but you get the satisfaction in knowing that you did your best and worked your hardest.”

A recent graduate of Keota High School, Sieren plans to attend Iowa State University in animal science.

In Iowa, the 4-H program is a part of Iowa State University Extension and headquartered on the ISU campus in Ames.  For more information about 4-H, how to get involved, or how to apply for a 4-H scholarship contact the local county office of ISU Extension.
