Montgomery County 4-H’er Receives Orscheln 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa – A $1,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Montgomery County 4-H member.  Christian Olson, Red Oak, has received an Orscheln 4-H scholarship sponsored by Orscheln Farm and Home Supply Co. Inc.

Olson, a nine-year member, is the son of Mike and Marcie Olson. He has been involved in the community service and poultry project areas and awarded overall swine showmanship at the local level. He has held the position of club vice president and been a member of his county youth committee.

“4-H was a huge part of my experience of growing up on a farm,” Olson said.  “It has taught me to set goals that are hard but attainable, and that once I reach my first goals nothing will stop me as I reach higher and further.”

A recent graduate of Red Oak High School, Olson plans to enroll at Iowa State University in agricultural engineering.

In Iowa, the 4-H program is a part of Iowa State University Extension and headquartered on the ISU campus in Ames.  For more information about 4-H, how to get involved or how to apply for a 4-H scholarship contact the local county office of ISU Extension.
