Buchanan County 4-H Member Receives Kiser 4-H Scholarship
AMES, Iowa – A $750 scholarship has been awarded to a Buchanan County 4-H member. Sara Morine, Lamont, has received the Kiser 4-H Scholarship sponsored by contributors to the Iowa 4-H Foundation and the Kiser Scholarship fund.
Morine, a nine-year member, is the daughter of Eric and Laura Morine. She has been involved in the leadership, photography and welding project areas and has received a swine showmanship buckle award and purple ribbons for horse showmanship, citizenship, food and nutrition and clothing projects, all at the state level. At the local level she has received honors in swine showmanship and has served as club president and on her county 4-H council and county youth committee. Morine also has attended the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.
“Through 4-H I have met many amazing people, had numerous opportunities and learned life-long skills,” she said. “I have grown up in the 4-H atmosphere, which has made me an open, creative and responsible person through all the projects, events and leadership positions.”
A recent graduate of Starmont High School, Morine plans to attend Iowa State University to major in animal science.
In Iowa, the 4-H program is a part of Iowa State University Extension and headquartered on the ISU campus in Ames. For more information about 4-H, how to get involved or how to apply for a 4-H scholarship, contact the local county office of ISU Extension.
