Black Hawk County 4-H Member Receives Duroe 4-H Scholarship


AMES, Iowa – A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Black Hawk County 4-H member. Alex Haight, Waterloo, has received a Duroe 4-H Scholarship sponsored by the Duroe family.

Haight, a nine-year member, is the son of Richard and Janis Haight. He has been involved in the aerospace project area and has received state fair recognition for crop production, home improvement and family historical projects. He also has received the Danforth “I Dare You,” leadership, Heideman woodworking excellence and senior crop awards at the local level while serving as club president and a county 4-H council member.

“I have enjoyed my many years in 4-H,” Haight said. “It has helped me to set goals for myself, meet new people and gain confidence in all that I do. These life skills will help me succeed at Iowa State University and in the world beyond.”

A recent graduate of Denver High School, Haight plans to attend ISU to major in agricultural engineering.
