Boone County 4-H’er Receives Stratton 4-H Scholarship


AMES, Iowa – A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Boone County 4-H member.  Cory Haglund, Boone, has received the Stratton 4-H scholarship sponsored by Stratton Memorial and the Stratton family. 

Haglund, a nine-year member, is the son of Kriss and Crystal Haglund. He was involved in the beef, horse, citizenship and leadership project areas and received the outstanding senior, outstanding intermediate and spirit awards at the local level. He also served as president and vice-president of his club and attended the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.  

“4-H has helped me greatly in developing communication and leadership skills that will be required for a future in the animal industry,” Haglund said. 

An Iowa State University junior, Haglund is majoring in animal science and involved in Block and Bridle, the Pre-Vet club and the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Learning Community.
