Webster County 4-H’er Receives Stakey 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa – A $1,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Webster County 4-H member.  Kallen Anderson, Harcourt, has received the Stakey 4-H scholarship sponsored by 4-H alumni contributions to the Iowa 4-H Foundation Scholarship Fund.

Anderson, a nine-year 4-H member, is the daughter of Robert and Charlene Anderson.  She has been involved in the clothing, food and nutrition, horticulture and leadership project areas and has received state project awards in the clothing and leadership areas.  A county, area and state 4-H council member, Anderson has served as club president, on her county youth committee and as a delegate to National 4- H Congress. She also has attended the Citizenship-Washington Focus and Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.

“4-H is about lifelong friendships, opportunities and skills,” she said.  “I am not positive about what the future holds for me and where I’m going to end up, but my involvement in 4-H has prepared me for anything that comes my way.”

A recent graduate of Southeast Webster-Grand High School, Anderson plans to attend Iowa State University and double major in dietetics and family and consumer sciences.

In Iowa, the 4-H program is a part of Iowa State University Extension and headquartered on the ISU campus in Ames.  For more information about 4-H, how to get involved or how to apply for a 4-H scholarship contact the local county office of ISU Extension.
