Jackson County 4-H’er Receives Pence Communication 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa – A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Jackson County 4-H member.  Kaitlin Kilburg, Bellevue, has received the Cheryl and David Pence Communication 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Cheryl and David Pence.

Kilburg, a nine-year member, is the daughter of Randy and Chris Kilburg. She has been involved in her county council, beef and photography and has been awarded state honors in food and nutrition, child development and clothing selection. She also has held the position of club vice president, been a member of her county 4-H council and attended the Iowa 4-H Conference.

“4-H enabled me to gain many life-long skills that will be beneficial as I live an independent life and join the workforce,” Kilburg said.  “I have come to realize that life is what you put into it, and by getting the most out of this experience, I have been able to get the most out of my school, community and church experiences, making me the individual that I am.”

A recent graduate of Bellevue Community High School, Kilburg plans to enroll at Clark College in elementary and special education.

In Iowa, the 4-H program is a part of Iowa State University Extension and headquartered on the ISU campus in Ames.  For more information about 4-H, how to get involved or how to apply for a 4-H scholarship contact the local county office of ISU Extension.
