Sac County 4-H Member Receives Dostal 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa – A $1,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Sac County 4-H member. Amy Peyton, Sac City, has received the Ralph and Agnes Dostal Memorial 4-H Scholarship sponsored by the Dostal family.

Peyton, a nine-year member, is the daughter of Harold and Sue Peyton. She was involved in the communications, leadership, citizenship, beef and home improvement project areas where she won numerous awards on the state level. She also received the top record book, top clothing selection, top presentation and top fashion revue awards along with the achievement award at the local level. A county, area and state 4-H council member, Peyton served as club president and state council co-chair, was a member of the Iowa 4-H technology team, hosted exchange students through the International 4-H Youth Exchange program (IFYE) and attended the National 4-H Conference, National 4-H Congress and Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.

“4-H is the backbone of my life today,” she said. “The skills I learned and opportunities I experienced in 4-H helped me complete a successful first year of college and figure out what I love doing and what I am now studying.”

An Iowa State University student, Peyton is majoring in agricultural business and is involved in Collegiate 4-H, Pi Beta Phi Sorority and Ag Business Club. She also is a member of the CALS Academic Advisory and the VEISHEA Committees.
