Butler County 4-H Member Receives Busch 4-H Scholarship


AMES, Iowa – A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Bulter County 4-H member. Rebecca Abbas, Aplington, has received the Marie A. Busch Memorial 4-H Scholarship sponsored by the Busch family.

Abbas, a nine-year member, is the daughter of Rick and Melanie Abbas. She was involved in the photography and home improvement project areas and received record keeping and treasurer awards at the local level and swine and communication awards at the state level. Abbas also served as president and vice president of her 4-H club.

“Through 4-H I got a lot more experience with animals,” she said. “I have also learned and come to appreciate hard work and the good things that come from it.”

An Iowa State University student, Abbas is majoring in animal science/pre-veterinary medicine and is involved in the Block and Bridle and Pre-Vet clubs.
