AMES, Iowa – Kourtney Determan of Sac County received a state 4-H clothing project award that includes a $100 savings bond from the Mary Jo and Glen Mente Endowment and the Iowa 4-H Foundation. Determan, 18, is the daughter of Steve and Barb Determan of Early.
During 10 years in 4-H, Determan has completed several major projects including leadership, citizenship, communications, clothing, and food and nutrition. She has received many state honors including state clothing awards, citizenship awards, leadership awards and communications awards. Along with these, she has also received many awards at the county level such as the Achievement Award, record book awards and Top Extemporaneous Speaker. Determan has also been president, secretary, telephone committee chair, public relations chair and reporter for her local 4-H club. She also served on county 4-H council, area 4-H council, state 4-H council, the National 4-H Conference, the National 4-H Congress, Citizenship-Washington Focus and the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.
Determan is a freshman at Iowa State University.
