Worth County 4-H'er Earns Leadership Project Award

AMES, Iowa – Courtney Athey of Worth County received a state 4-H leadership project award that includes a $100 savings bond from the Mary Jo and Glen Mente Endowment and the Iowa 4-H Foundation. Athey, 19, is the daughter of Deb Athey, Northwood, and Gary Athey of Hayfield, Minn.
A nine-year 4-H member, Athey received state honors in the communication, citizenship and leadership project areas while also participating in clothing and photography at the local level. She was a member of county, area and state 4-H councils and has served as president, treasurer and reporter of her club. Athey has also attended National 4-H Conference and the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.
A current freshman at Iowa State University majoring in biology, Athey is involved in The Salt Company and ultimate frisbee club.
