Woodbury County 4-H'er Earns Horse Project Award
AMES, Iowa – Lauren Eckert of Woodbury County received a state 4-H horse project award that includes a $100 savings bond from the Mary Jo and Glen Mente Endowment and the Iowa 4-H Foundation. Eckert, 16, is the daughter of Paul and Julie Eckert of Sioux City.
A six-year 4-H member, Eckert has been involved in leadership, citizenship and animal science project areas and has won local awards in both horse and veterinary science projects. She has also received recognition for extemporaneous speaking at the local and state level where she received a seal of excellence. Additionally, Eckert has served as a state delegate for National 4-H congress, on her county 4-H council, as youth president of the county recognition team and in her 4-H club as president, vice president and secretary.
Eckert is a junior at Bishop Heelan High School.
