Franklin County 4-H Livestock Quiz Bowl Team Places Third at AK-SAR-BEN

OMAHA – A Franklin County, Iowa, 4-H team placed third in the AK-SAR-BEN 4-H Livestock Exposition Quiz Bowl Invitational contest Sept. 27 in Omaha. The team won $750.

The Iowa team placed third out of seven states competing. Members were Austin Schnabel, Sheffield; Caleb Dirksen, Thornton; Kellen Suntken, Belmond; and Tyler Dirksen, Hampton. Jordann Wenzel, Latimer, was the alternate. The team was coached by Jackie Dohlman, Hampton.

Contestants had to answer questions on general animal science and current events associated with swine, beef, sheep and meat goats.  The Iowa 4-H Foundation and Franklin County 4-H Foundation sponsored the trip. Cargill Inc. sponsored the contest, plaques and prizes. For more information on how to become involved with livestock quiz bowl, contact your Iowa State University Extension county office.
