Tama County 4-H'er to Attend National 4-H Congress in Atlanta

AMES, Iowa – Daweyn Albertsen of Tama County has been selected to represent Iowa at the National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Ga., Nov. 28 – Dec. 2.  He is sponsored by the Iowa 4-H Foundation National 4-H Congress Endowment.  Albertsen, 18, is the son of Frank and Becky Albertsen of Toledo.

Albertsen is one of 22 youth from Iowa attending the leadership conference, entitled “Accept the Challenge.”  Iowa’s Congress delegates are selected through interviews and evaluation of support materials.  Albertsen, a senior at South Tama High School, was chosen for his leadership, citizenship and overall achievement in the 4-H program.

During his nine years in 4-H, Albertsen has participated in swine, beef, sheep, poultry and dog projects and has received the state swine award. At the local level he has received agricultural achievement, merit, livestock, leadership and livestock awards. He has served as president and secretary of his 4-H club. He also participated in county 4-H council, county youth committee and the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.

"In 4-H I have developed my leadership skills and improved my responsibility, integrity and self-respect," Albertsen said. "I set personal goals, created plans to attain them and evaluated my efforts each year as I completed my records."
