AMES, Iowa – Jessica Wade of Woodbury County has been selected to represent Iowa at the National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Ga., Nov. 28 – Dec. 2. She is sponsored by the Iowa 4-H Foundation National 4-H Congress Endowment. Wade, 16, is the daughter of Richard and Colleen Wade of Sioux City.
Wade is one of 22 youth from Iowa attending the leadership conference, entitled “Accept the Challenge.” Iowa’s Congress delegates are selected through interviews and evaluation of support materials. Wade, a junior at Akron-Westfield Senior High School, was chosen for her leadership, citizenship and overall achievement in the 4-H program.
During her eight years in 4-H, she has participated in the horse, rabbit, goat, poultry and visual arts project areas. Wade has received a state citizenship project award and horse, rabbit and citizenship achievement awards at the local level. She also has been awarded the spirit of 4-H award and several grand champion showmanship trophies. A county and area 4-H council member, Wade has attended the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference and served as president and vice president of her club.
“I have a great passion for 4-H and for helping others. 4-H has impacted my life and influenced my decisions by helping me to gain confidence and focus on ways to help my community,” she said.
