AMES, Iowa – Jessica Schramm of Sac County has been selected to represent Iowa at the National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Ga., Nov. 28 – Dec. 2. She is sponsored by the Iowa 4-H Foundation National 4-H Congress Endowment. Schramm, 17, is the daughter of Mark and Brenda Schramm of Nemaha.
Schramm isone of 22 youth from Iowa attending the leadership conference, entitled “Accept the Challenge.” Iowa’s Congress delegates are selected through interviews and evaluation of support materials. Schramm, a senior at East Sac County High School, was chosen for her leadership, citizenship and overall achievement in the 4-H program.
During her three years in 4-H, Schramm has completed several major projects including leadership, citizenship, child development and photography. She has received state 4-H honors including a child development project award and a family heritage award. Schramm has served as secretary of her 4-H club. She also has participated in county 4-H council, area 4-H council, state 4-H council and the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.
“4-H has given me the confidence and courage to do anything I want,” Schramm said. “This will only be my third year, but after making state council and the National [4-H] Congress, I realized that I could achieve as much as anybody else.”
