Webster County 4-H'er to Attend National 4-H Congress in Atlanta

AMES, Iowa – Kallen Anderson of Webster County has been selected to represent Iowa at the National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Ga., Nov. 28 – Dec. 2.  She is sponsored by the Iowa 4-H Foundation National 4-H Congress Endowment. Anderson, 18, is the daughter of Robert and Charlene Anderson of Harcourt.

Anderson is one of 22 youth from Iowa attending the leadership conference, entitled “Accept the Challenge.” Iowa’s Congress delegates are selected through interviews and evaluation of support materials. Anderson, a senior at Southeast Webster-Grand, was chosen for her leadership, citizenship and overall achievement in the 4-H program.

During her nine years in 4-H, Anderson has completed several major projects including clothing, horticulture, leadership, citizenship and cat. She has received state 4-H honors including the leadership state 4-H project award and clothing state 4-H project award. She has served as president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, photographer and historian of her 4-H club.  She also has served on the county 4- H council, area 4-H council, state 4-H council, National 4-H Congress, the Citizenship-Washington Focus and the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.

“4-H is about lifelong friendships, opportunities and skills,” Anderson said.  “I’m not sure what the future holds for me, but my involvement in 4-H has prepared me for anything that comes my way.”
