4-H Judges Training Workshops Scheduled, Registration Open

AMES, Iowa – With spring and summer fast approaching, it’s time to start planning for upcoming fairs. To do this, Iowa State University Extension 4-H Youth Development will offer training workshops for 4-H judges in three locations during March and April.
Current and new county and state fair judges can attend one of the three Saturday workshops to refresh themselves in the project areas and receive updates and changes.
Registration forms are due March 19 for the session at Creston High School on March 29. Forms are due March 27 for the session at Storm Lake Middle School on April 5, and they’re due April 9 for the session at the Extension 4-H Youth Building in Ames on April 19. Registration starts at 9 a.m., and the cost to attend is $28, which includes lunch, handouts, postage, meeting expenses and additional refreshments.
Workshop session topics include the 4-H Judging Philosophy, Child Development, Clothing, Food and Nutrition, Home Improvement, Ag and Natural Resources, Horticulture, Communications and Photography. There is also a special session for new judges. Some hands-on practice with 4-H exhibits will be included.
