Chad Hart on upswings in the corn and soybean market -- The economist with the Center for Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD) at Iowa State University says the recent upswings in the corn and soybean market are based on basic supply and demand; more demand than supply.
Register for the Marketing and Food Systems Initiative Workshop -- The Leopold Center is sponsoring Marketing and Food Systems Initiative Workshop March 11 in Ames. Associate director Rich Pirog says pre-registration by March 5 is required for this free workshop.
Roger Elmore on preventive fungicide and corn yields -- ISU Extension corn agronomist Roger Elmore says farmers may want to consider their own side-by-side trials if they plan to implement a preventive fungicide program to increase corn yields in 2008.
Klaas on Sand County Almanac celebration -- Iowa State University professor emeritus of animal ecology Erv Klaas says Ames, Iowa, will join a number of communities in reading from Aldo Leopold’s Sand County Almanac on the 60th anniversary of the its publication in 1948.
