AMES, Iowa--The new year is a good time to take stock of your investments and consider setting some new directions and goals. Iowa State University Extension’s Invest Wisely program is here to help.

“Tax season is a common time for consumers to take a look at their finances, calculate net worth, rebalance investment portfolios and make needed changes in investments,” says Cynthia Fletcher, families specialist with Iowa State University Extension and project leader for the Invest Wisely series.

“We know that many Iowans feel they are not very knowledgeable about investing, but consider it very important to increase their knowledge,” Fletcher adds.  “The Invest Wisely Web site, radio spots and news articles offer basic terminology as well as unbiased advice and information regarding investing.”

The ISU Extension Invest Wisely Project provides a series of radio messages, newspaper articles and web resources for investors to help educate Iowans on the benefits of investor education at www.extension.iastate.edu/investwisely.

ISU Extension received a grant from the Investor Protection Trust (IPT) to develop the Invest Wisely program. The IPT is a nonprofit organization devoted to investor education. Since 1993, the IPT has worked to provide independent, objective investor education needed by all Americans to make informed investment decisions.
