2/5/2008

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Plans are nearly complete for the 2008 Siouxland Garden Show to be held at the Marina Center in South Sioux City, Neb., on Friday and Saturday, March 14 and 15. The show will include educational exhibits, presentations, how-to sessions and commercial exhibitors.

“The show is designed for anyone who has any interest in flowers, lawns, landscapes or gardens," said Sherry McGill, Iowa State University Extension education director in Woodbury County. "Everyone will enjoy the quality speakers who will present and the commercial vendors who will demonstrate new ideas.”

Informative presentations will be running on both Friday and Saturday. Speakers from across the tri-state area will bring their extensive knowledge to the March 2008 show.

The event will offer demonstrations and educational displays on pond gardening, container gardening, vegetable gardening, transplanting and more.

Commercial exhibitors will showcase new and innovative products plus traditional items and services that make gardening and lawn care easier and more enjoyable.

Organizations participating in planning the show are Iowa State University Extension in Woodbury County; University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension; Mosher’s Greenhouse and Landscaping; Prairie Pedlar; Earl May Nursery, and Woodbury County Extension Master Gardeners.

“The Siouxland Flower, Lawn and Garden Show will give area garden enthusiasts a jumpstart on their spring and summer landscape and outdoor planning,” said Carol Larvick, Extension Educator at UNL Extension. “This event will have something for novice flower and garden enthusiasts and those who have been gardening for many years.”
