AMES, Iowa -- More American women are becoming better farm business partners. They are building networks and learning to manage and organize critical decision making information by participating in Annie’s Project, a grass-roots program managed by Extension specialists across the United States.  Currently Annie’s Project is offered in 18 states, but that is on course to expand with funding from the Farm Credit System President’s Planning Committee. 

Farm Credit recently granted $20,000 to the Annie’s National Outreach Center Project, managed by Iowa State University Extension.  Farm Credit has been a long-time partner in the funding and delivery of Annie’s Project at the local level in communities across the country.  Farm Credit partners with local extension staff and other local experts to deliver an educational program that encompasses five risk management areas: market, financial, legal, human resources and production risk.

With this gift from the Farm Credit System President’s Planning Committee in Washington, D.C., to the Annie’s National Outreach Center Project in Ames, Iowa, a direct investment has been made in the delivery of Annie’s Project at a national level.  The grant will make it possible for Annie’s National Outreach Center Project to reach clients in more states and to reach Spanish speakers in Arkansas, Florida, and Michigan.

The Annie’s National Outreach Center Project supports the efforts of extension educators at land grant universities, and educators at community colleges, non-governmental organizations, and commodity groups across the country in delivery of Annie’s Project.  To learn more about Annie’s Project, visit www.extension.iastate.edu/annie .
