Experts, WOI Radio on ISU Stage at Farm Progress Show

Ames, IA -- The hoop building of the Iowa State University Farm Progress Show exhibit will be full of activity with many interactive displays and numerous presentations on the ISU stage. Each day of the FPS in Boone, the ISU stage schedule includes live WOI Radio broadcasts and informative talks from ISU experts that visitors will not want to miss.

Every morning, live WOI Radio broadcasts start out the day at 8:30 with market reports. Regular market updates continue throughout the day. Also, WOI Radio will broadcast live during the noon hour of all three days. On Tuesday and Thursday, ISU Extension's Doug Cooper will be contributing segments to the Talk@12 show which airs from 12 noon to 1 p.m.. The Wednesday  Talk@12 broadcast with Katherine Perkins will originate at the Farm Progress Show.

While at the FPS, be sure to attend presentations from Iowa State University Extension specialists from the Departments of Agronomy, Animal Science as well as other areas of interest to visitors.

Elwynn Taylor, climatologist, plans to discuss the weather and crop outlook for Iowa during the mid-morning and mid-afternoon of each day. Soybean agronomist Palle Pedersen and corn agronomist Roger Elmore will talk about planting prospects for 2009, followed by a question and answer session. Pederson is scheduled on the stage for Tuesday, Aug. 26 and Thursday, Aug. 28 around 10 a.m. and Wednesday, Aug. 27 right after the noon hour. Visitors can listen to Elmore on Tuesday at approximately 3 p.m., Wednesday just before 10 a.m., and Thursday afternoon shortly after two o’clock.

Jack Van Laar and Paul Lasley will provide musical entertainment just before the noon hour and during the two o’clock hour every day of the FPS, with an additional performance around 9 a.m. on Wednesday.

During other times throughout the three days, about 20 experts from ISU Extension and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences will give short presentations on a wide variety of topics. Presentations are scheduled every 15 to 30 minutes, beginning at 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
