Jones County 4-H'er Receives Iowa State Fair Scholarship
AMES, Iowa – A $1,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Jones County 4-H member. Benjamin Hein, Monticello, received an Iowa State Fair 4-H Scholarship sponsored by the Iowa Foundation for Agriculture Advancement.
Hein, a nine-year 4-H member, is the son of Lee and Jacky Hein. He has participated most actively in the project areas of leadership, citizenship and swine. He has received the Grand Champion Pen of Four Award at the Iowa State Fair and a belt buckle for showmanship. He served as president and vice-president of his local 4-H club.
“My memories of 4-H will stay with me…I still plan on being involved in the local swine shows and sharing my knowledge I have learned over the years to the 4-H members I will be helping,” Hein said.
A recent graduate of Monticello High School, Hein plans to major in animal science at Iowa State University.
In Iowa, the 4-H program is a part of Iowa State University Extension and headquartered on the ISU campus in Ames. For more information about 4-H, how to get involved, or how to apply for a 4-H scholarship, contact the local county office of ISU Extension.
