AMES, Iowa – A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Clayton County 4-H member. Kara Moeller, Strawberry Point, received the Marie A. Busch Memorial 4-H Scholarship sponsored by the family of Marie A. Busch.
Moeller, a nine-year 4-H member, is the daughter of Rande and Donna Moeller. She has been involved with food and nutrition projects, beef, dairy, visual arts and photography. She served as president, vice-president and secretary of her 4-H club, and participated in the county 4-H council.
“I developed personally through 4-H by completing fair projects, giving speeches and showing animals,” Moeller said. “4-H has helped me develop the skills that are needed to be a nurse: dedication, respect, responsibility and communication. 4-H has definitely shaped who I am today.”
Moeller is a sophomore at the University of Northern Iowa, majoring in nursing. She is involved with the Bender Hall Senate, UNI Running Club, Navigators, NSNA and Nurse’s Christ Fellowship.
In Iowa, the 4-H program is a part of Iowa State University Extension and headquartered on the ISU campus in Ames. For more information about 4-H, how to get involved or how to apply for a 4-H scholarship, contact the local county office of ISU Extension.
