WASHINGTON -- Agriculture Secretary Ed Schafer will travel to the Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa, on Thursday, August 28, 2008. He will discuss and answer questions about farm bill implementation, Midwest flooding and other current agriculture issues during a session hosted by Orion Samuelson and Max Armstrong of WGN. He also will participate in a Food Safety Event with Iowa 4-H and FFA members and tour the show grounds. Secretary Schafer will make a Rural Development announcement during a news conference followed by media availability.
