Midwest Composting Course Offered in Iowa

NEVADA, Iowa  --  The Midwest Composting School 2008 features an intensive three-day program that will train participants in the science of composting, handling multiple feedstocks, enhancing compost quality, compost sampling and analytical processes, environmental regulations and understanding compost markets. The school focuses on a combination of hands-on training, lecture and discussion, facility operator panel discussions and problem solving.

 

Kapil Arora, Iowa State University (ISU) Extension field agricultural engineer and school coordinator says that “Participants will have an opportunity to get hands-on experience and also hear from composting experts and facility managers about techniques that could give them a competitive edge”.

 

The school will be held on June 9 -11 at ISU's Field Extension Education Laboratory (FEEL), four miles west of Ames, Iowa, and is a collaborative effort between ISU, University of Illinois, University of Minnesota and Illinois State University.

 

The registration fee is $375 postmarked by May 27. Late registration fee is $425.
