AMES, Iowa -- Pat Beck, of Buckingham, recently was elected president of the Iowa 4-H Foundation during its annual meeting at the Extension 4-H Youth Building on the Iowa State University (ISU) campus in Ames. Beck is the assistant director of residence for the University of Northern Iowa.
In passing the gavel, outgoing board president Al Paris noted accomplishments during 2006-2007 such as increased marketing and promotion of 4-H, raising new funds for 4-H programs and reaching out to engage an estimated 200,000 living 4-H alumni in Iowa.
Beck will preside over the 40-member board of trustees through 2008. She challenged the board to be “fearless in supporting the foundation’s mission to provide financial resources for youth development through 4-H,” and pointed to the power of 4-H to change lives.
The Iowa 4-H Foundation annually raises more than $2.4 million to support the Iowa 4-H youth development programs throughout the state.
In Iowa, 4-H is headquartered on the ISU campus and directed by ISU Extension 4-H Youth Development.
