AMES, Iowa – Campers can choose from unique specialty camps, ranging from “My First Overnight” to “Up All Night,” at the Iowa 4-H Center this summer.
Young campers, ages 7-9, will spend two days and one night exploring camp life during “My First Overnight.” Older youth, ages 13-16, can choose from a variety of weeklong camps, even one during which they can sleep all day and stay “Up All Night.”
At other specialty camps such as “Ready, Aim, Shoot” and “Bulls-eye Basics,” campers devote three hours each morning to their specific topic of interest.
Camps “Just for Girls” and “Just for Guys” focus on quality time for campers of one gender. Girls will do activities such as spa days, slumber parties, modeling and etiquette lessons. Guys will play sports, go on outdoor adventures and learn new woodworking skills. Both camps include time for swimming, archery and crafts.
“Un-Camp” for ages 12-15 comes in half-week, whole week and two-week sessions. Campers get extra pool time, a movie and pizza night, ice cream with breakfast, mud volleyball, food fights and other surprises.
