Camp STARS Deadline Nears

Camper and Volunteer

AMES, Iowa – Older youth and adults can now volunteer and share some of their camping skills and experiences with younger campers at the Iowa 4-H Center located near Madrid, Iowa.

Volunteers must attend a mandatory training at the Center. This training, to comply with ACA Standards and Iowa State University risk management, will be Sunday, April 1 or Saturday, June 2 from 1-7 p.m.

Volunteers are known as Camp STARS, which stands for Service Team and Resource Support. They assist in many areas of camp for a few days or a few weeks, in such areas as: maintenance, kitchen prep, housekeeping, overnight camping, leading camp activities, day camp, and weekend rental group hosting. Volunteers pay no camp fees for the week and both lodging and meals are provided.
