Forestry Field Day Offered In Northeast Iowa
AMES, Iowa -- The Winneshiek County Conservation Board, Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Iowa State University (ISU) Forestry Extension are presenting an educational Forestry Field Day, in Winneshiek County from 1 to 4 p.m. on April 26.
Topics to be presented include oak regeneration, wildflower identification walks, savanna restoration and maintenance and invasive species identification and control.
In addition to field site presentations, a small controlled burn in the oak forest understory will be conducted, if the weather permits. Please dress appropriately for the weather as the presentations and demonstrations will take place outdoors.
The program will be presented at Lake Meyer Park. Lake Meyer road is about half way between the towns of Calmar and Fort Atkinson on Iowa Highway 24. Follow signs for the Winneshiek County Conservation Park – Lake Meyers.
