ISU Extension Offers Dairy Facilities Programs
AMES, Iowa - Iowa State University (ISU) Extension has rescheduled the Dairy Facilities Conference – Guidelines for Planning and Building Successful Dairies program. The conferences will be held April 2 at Sheldon and April 3 at Calmar. These conferences were originally scheduled for Feb. 28 and March 1, but were postponed due to severe weather. Registrations submitted for the original events will be honored.
“We’re encouraging those involved in the dairy industry to attend this conference to hear the latest in cow housing, milking and manure handling research.” says Dale Thoreson, ISU Extension field specialist, “This conference is an excellent opportunity to share valuable information with those already working in the dairy industry and with those interested in beginning or remodeling a dairy.”
Dairy producers, bankers, lenders, builders and consultants are all invited to attend. Topics include energy efficiency on the dairy, planning a milk center, manure management options and DNR regulations and financing guidelines. The northwest conference will be held at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, and the northeast conference will take place at Northeast Iowa Dairy Foundation Center in Calmar.
Those interested in attending the conference are encouraged to pre-register by March 29. A fee of $25 per participant includes lunch and a copy of the conference proceedings. The Dairy Facilities Conference is held at two locations to allow dairy industry personnel the opportunity to attend at a nearby location.
