AMES, Iowa -- A $2,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Linn County student. Spencer Jordan, Marion, received a Hills Bank 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Hills Bank and Trust Company.
The Hills Bank 4-H Scholarship is awarded to as many as 20 students each year. The recipients, who apply during their junior year in high school, attend nine hours of leadership training sponsored by Hills Bank and Trust Company during their senior year. Afterward, they receive $500 per semester for two years. The scholarship may be used at any of Iowa's accredited universities, colleges or community colleges.
"These new skills will help me as I start college, giving me confidence to meet new people," Jordan, the son of Jeff and Marcia Jordan, said.
Jordan has been involved in several activities including 4-H, FFA and wrestling. He was also a member of cross-county and a youth group. He participated in NHA and received awards for beef and swine state projects.
A recent graduate of Linn-Mar High School, Jordan plans to continue his studies at Iowa State University in agriculture studies.
