Ida County 4-H Member Receives Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship


AMES, Iowa -- A $500 scholarship has been awarded to an Ida County 4-H member. Whitt Spaulding, Battle Creek, has received a Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc.


Spaulding, a nine-year 4-H member, is the son of Roger and Lois Spaulding. He has participated most actively in the project areas of entomology, communications, tractor and goat. He has received county awards for senior livestock judging, top goat and top poultry. He received the county “I Dare You” award and awards for outstanding record book. Spaulding served as president, treasurer and historian of his 4-H club. He was also a member of his county 4-H council, county youth committee, and area 4-H council. He also attended the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.


“4-H has helped me to become a respectful and responsible adult. I have learned to keep records and make deadlines,” Spaulding said. “I plan to stay active and help wherever I can. I will always try to make the best better.”


Spaulding is a graduate of Battle Creek-Ida Grove Homeschool program and plans to enroll in the John Deere Agriculture Technology program at Northeast Iowa Community College.
