Grundy County 4-H Member Receives Alumni 4-H Scholarship
AMES, Iowa -- A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Grundy County 4-H member. Janice DeBerg, Dike, has received an Alumni 4-H Scholarship sponsored by the Iowa 4-H Foundation Scholarship Fund.
DeBerg, a nine-year 4-H member, is the daughter of Alan and Carrie DeBerg. She has participated most actively in the project areas of communication, citizenship and child development. On the county level, she has received awards for communication, treasurer and secretary. She served as treasurer, vice-president and secretary of her 4-H club. She was also a member in her county 4-H council and county youth committee. She also attended the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference and Citizenship-Washington Focus program.
“I have been very involved in communications all nine years of 4-H,” DeBerg said. “I believe 4-H prepares you with the stature that is necessary for public speaking.”
DeBerg is a graduate of Dike-New Hartford High School and plans to major in liberal arts pre-medical at the University of Iowa.
In Iowa, the 4-H program is a part of Iowa State University Extension and headquartered on the ISU campus in Ames. For more information about 4-H, how to get involved, or how to apply for a 4-H Scholarship contact the local county office of ISU Extension.
