AMES, Iowa -- A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Jones County 4-H member. Jaclyn Manternach, Ames, has received the Persinger-Asmus 4-H Scholarship sponsored by the Persinger and Asmus families.
Manternach, an eight-year 4-H member, is the daughter of Ray and Jill Manternach. She has participated most actively in the project areas of communication, citizenship and leadership. On the county level, she has received awards for leadership, communication and citizenship. She served as president, vice-president and secretary of her 4-H club. She was also a member in her county 4-H council and county youth committee. She also attended the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.
“4-H has not only given me the opportunity to develop life skills to help me succeed in whatever path I choose, but it has also helped me to determine that I want to be active in positive youth development to help others gain those same valuable life skills,” Manternach said.
Manternach is a senior at Iowa State University High School majoring in English and speech education. She is also the president of collegiate 4-H and the president of the student admissions representatives.
