Union County 4-H Member Receives Iowa State Fair 4-H Scholarship
AMES, Iowa -- A $1,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Union County 4-H member. Jason Lents, Creston, has received an Iowa State Fair 4-H Scholarship sponsored by the Iowa Foundation for Agricultural Advancement.
Lents, a nine-year 4-H member, is the son of Wayne and Ginny Lents. He has participated most actively in the project areas of beef, sheep and swine. On the county level, he has received awards for market lamb, market steer and market hog. He served as president and treasurer of his 4-H club.
“Being involved in 4-H has taught me important skills that I will use for the rest of my life,” Lents said. “I have learned that working hard on your projects pays off.”
Lents is a graduate of Creston High School and plans to major in agricultural engineering at Iowa State University.
