Johnson County 4-H Member Receives Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship


AMES, Iowa -- A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Johnson County 4-H member. Melissa Kinney, Oxford, has received a Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc.


Kinney, a seven-year 4-H member, is the daughter of Tim and Nancy Kinney. She has participated most actively in the project areas of horse, self-determined and visual arts. On the county level, she has received the Johnson County Recognition of Excellence award.


“Through 4-H I have gained better leadership skills and responsibility,” Kinney said.


Kinney is a graduate of Clear Creek Amana High School and is planning to major in veterinarian technician at Kirkwood Community College.
