Clinton County 4-H Member Receives Tubbs 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa -- A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Clinton County 4-H member. Lee Jacobsen, Goose Lake, has received the Tubbs 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Ed Tubbs of Maquoketa.

Jacobsen, a nine-year 4-H member, is the son of Loran and Teresa Jacobsen. He has participated most actively in the project areas of woodworking, welding and landscaping. On the county level, he has received awards for swine and tractors. He served as president of his 4-H club.

“I enjoyed 4-H these past nine years and will miss it,” Jacobsen said. “4-H has given me countless fun memories and many new friends. I have gained many important skills from 4-H, but the one that stands out is the leadership skills I have received.”

Jacobsen is a graduate of Northeast High School and plans to major in mechanical engineering at the University of Iowa.

In Iowa, the 4-H program is a part of Iowa State University Extension and headquartered on the ISU campus in Ames. For more information about 4-H, how to get involved, or how to apply for a 4-H scholarship contact the local county office of ISU Extension.
