Linn County 4-H Member Receives Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa -- A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Linn County 4-H member. Nathaniel Hofmann, Cedar Rapids, has received a Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc.

Hofmann, a three-year 4-H member, is the son of John and Sally Hofmann. He has participated most actively in the project areas of horse and other livestock and communication. On the county level, he attended the Hills Bank Leadership Conference and coordinated a county memorial pie auction. He served as secretary of his 4-H club. He was also a member in his county 4-H council.

“4-H has helped me to become more like the person I want to be by stretching me outside of my comfort zone and to new heights,” Hofmann said.

Hofmann is a graduate of Marion Homeschool and plans to major in agriculture at Kirkwood Community College.

In Iowa, the 4-H program is a part of Iowa State University Extension and headquartered on the ISU campus in Ames. For more information about 4-H, how to get involved, or how to apply for a 4-H scholarship contact the local county office of ISU Extension.
