Boone County 4-H Member Receives Career 4-H Scholarship
AMES, Iowa -- A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Boone County 4-H member. Jennifer Hansen, Ames, has received the Career 4-H Scholarship sponsored by the family of Shirley Stakey.
Hansen, a nine-year 4-H member, is the daughter of Barb Osborn and Ray Hansen. She has participated most actively in the project areas of sheep, agriculture and natural resources, and food and nutrition. On the county level, she has received awards for outstanding sixer, and outstanding freshman and graduate. She served as president, vice-president and treasurer of her 4-H club. She was also a member in her county 4-H council and attended the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.
“At a very early age I realized that I have a passion for agriculture,” Hansen said. “4-H gave me the opportunity to explore different areas that interested me.”
Hansen is a sophomore at Iowa State University majoring in food science. She is also an active member of the food science club.
