Boone County 4-H Member Receives Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship


AMES, Iowa -- A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Boone County 4-H member. Emily Hansen, Ames, has received a Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc.


Hansen, an eight-year 4-H member, is the daughter of Barb Osborn and Ray Hansen. She has participated most actively in the project areas of sheep, dairy and communication. On the county level, she has received awards for spirit, outstanding sixer and outstanding freshman. She served as president and treasurer of her 4-H club. She was also a representative at the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.


“4-H has helped me to become a real leader in my home and community,” Hansen said. “4-H has taught me the importance of service to others and my community.”


Hansen is a graduate of Boone High School and plans to major in agribusiness at Des Moines Area Community College.
