Johnson County 4-H Member Receives Orscheln 4-H Scholarship
AMES, Iowa -- A $1,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Johnson County 4-H member. Kristine Gleason, Solon, has received an Orscheln 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Orscheln, Inc.
Gleason, a nine-year 4-H member, is the daughter of Mike and Renee Gleason. She has participated most actively in the project areas of swine, child development and photography. On the county level, she has received awards for communication and citizenship. She served as president, vice-president and treasurer of her 4-H club. She was also a member in her county 4-H council and national 4-H congress. She also attended the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.
“4-H has taught me great life skills,” Gleason said. “Through this program I’ve been able to view many different careers.”
Gleason is a graduate of Solon High School and plans to major in agricultural engineering and Spanish at Iowa State University. She was also the Johnson County Fair Princess and Johnson County Pork Queen.
