AMES, Iowa -- A full tuition scholarship has been awarded to a Howard County 4-H member. Tyler Dohlman, Ames, has received the Mahr Family 4-H Scholarship sponsored by the family of Larry and Donna Mahr.
Dohlman, a five-year 4-H member, is the son of Beth Dohlman. He has participated most actively in farm safety days, Clover Kids and was a livestock exhibitor. He also attended the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.
“4-H helped me grow and develop into an independent individual,” Dohlman said. “Not only did I learn how to work well with groups but I also had to learn how to take on responsibilities and persevere over obstacles that came my way.”
Dohlman, a sophomore at Iowa State University, is majoring in veterinary medicine and is also a member or the American Association of Bovine, Equine and Swine Practitioners. He is also an active member of the beginning farmers network, pre-vet club, and V-SMART. He is also involved in the ISU varsity football team, AG 450 and has been on the Dean’s List for all semesters.
In Iowa, the 4-H program is a part of Iowa State University Extension and headquartered on the ISU campus in Ames. For more information about 4-H, how to get involved, or how to apply for a 4-H Scholarship contact the local county office of ISU Extension.
